Required Immunizations and Tests for Nursing 17³Ô¹ÏÍø
To ensure the health and safety of our campus community, all nursing students (excluding phlebotomy) must complete the following immunizations and tests without exceptions.
TB Testing Options:
Option 1: Two-Step TB Test
- Visit 1: First TB skin test (TST) administered. Return in 48-72 hours for reading.
- Visit 2: Test evaluated. If negative, schedule a second test in 7-21 days. If positive, a chest x-ray is required, but students may attend classes if asymptomatic.
- Visit 3: Second TST administered 7-21 days later. Return in 48-72 hours for reading.
- Visit 4: Second test evaluated. Positive results lead to a chest x-ray, while negative results indicate no infection.
Annual TST: If your TST expires during the program, a one-step test is required annually.
Option 2: QuantiFERON Test
- A blood test that detects TB without needing a follow-up visit. Results are typically available within 24-48 hours.
Additional Vaccinations:
-
Influenza: Annual flu vaccine required.
-
COVID-19: Proof of the COVID-19 vaccine required. Booster required for LPN and BSN programs.
-
Hepatitis B: Series of 2 or 3 injections, followed by a titer test.
-
MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Proof of 2 doses or immunity through titer required.
-
Varicella: Proof of 2 doses or immunity through titer required.
-
Tdap: One dose required, with Td booster every 10 years.
